List-servs and Discussion Groups
List-servs and Discussion Groups are channels for discussing problems, requesting specific information such as country of origin data, or making necessary contacts. They are moderated so as to prevent nuisance material be circulated. It is not necessary to join a list-serv to obtain needed information. One can contact the moderator, asking a question to be passed to the members.

The purpose of this list-serv is to provide immigration clinical faculty with a secured forum to openly share information and seek advice on immigration cases and strategy when appropriate. It is intended for those engaged in advocacy on behalf of clients and is closed to U.S. government employees. In order to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the list-serv, applicants for membership are asked to affirm that they are not a US government employee, will not post confidential client information on the list-serv, will not copy, forward or excerpt information that is not already explicitly identified in the public domain, and in collecting case examples for advocacy purposes, 'I will not use material from this list-serv without the express permission of the person who posted the information'. Expert Witness
EXPERT WITNESS is a closed group of mainly anthropologists who can help refugee legal advisers with cases that involve such 'cultural' issues as asylum claims based on witchcraft accusations. Although you need to be invited to join the group, you may forward specific questions about cases to EXPERTWITNESS[at]jiscmail.ac.uk and Dr. Prakash Shah, the moderator, will forward your inquiry to the group.
